Me again.... How it all began
Well where do I even start.....
So Krystal's Krafts was born out of the love of making "things" out of natural materials mainly for my friends which just went a bit nuts during the COVID-19 Lockdown. I would get asked "Can you make me...?" accompanied by a photo and I would set away at making them. Obviously, with my spin on it!
Where it was born from...
I've always had a passion since a young age of making crafts. Probably born out of watching my Mum bake and making clothing, seeing her sat at the sewing machine I wanted to have a go. I liked the feel of pressing on that sewing machine pedal .... “watch those fingers” she would say. Then there was my Pop Pops, an Engineer, he could turn his hand to anything. Or maybe I got it from my Grandad George who was bricklayer by trade and at the age of 70 he helped build an extension on my childhood home with my Pop Pops. So, I guess it runs in the family.
When I bought my first home, I wanted to give everything a go, why not! With having Pop Pops on hand to ask questions it was a no brainer, after all he had done it so why couldn’t I? From tiling kitchen and bathroom floors and walls, painting, laying wood flooring and basic electrics, nothing phases me, and I enjoy standing back and thinking, that’s not a bad job, the pride I get is second to none.
COVID 19 got me started...
When the Coronavirus Pandemic kicked off, lockdown began and we were all isolated, I knew I needed to keep busy. I love indoor climbing but with all the centres shut I decided to build myself a climbing wall in the garage. Then my best friend moved to a new house and wanted all sorts of madness making.
So, seeing as I have access to the use of many, many power tools why not continue to fill what little spare time I have with making all sorts out of wooden pallets, logs, copper piping, macrame and anything else I can get my hands on...
Some people relax by reading a book, I relax by turning on a power tool.
